Margarita Sánchez Díaz

Margarita Sánchez Díaz was born in 1960 and raised on a ranch in the farming community of Lachigüizo, Miahuatlán. As a young woman, she married the mezcalero Constantino García Cruz, brother of Cándido, Tomás, and Celso and raised 6 children. Over the years, and since her husband’s untimely death, she has dedicated herself to saving seeds and propagating agave in her nursery, planting many of the agave her children Wilfrido, Ramón and Elvia have harvested for use in their mezcal productions in recent years. She is one of the founding members of the Grupo Productor Logoche and every year, she makes a small amount of mezcal from the Espadín grown on her family lands. Margarita is an amazing cook and is often at helm of organizing the meals for community fiestas and events.
